I have an interesting question for you..but can you answer it?
The question is….what book are you reading?
I recently came across an interesting statistic that states the average leader & CEO reads between 23-26 books every year
As cheesy as the expression is but also so true at the same time…’leaders are readers‘
When I ask you ‘what book are you reading’, i’m not referring to a J.K Rowling creation but i’m really asking you, how are you growing and who are you becoming?
As a Peak Performance & Life Coach, one pattern I spot with all high performers, high achievers and leaders that they have in common without exception….is that they are constantly learning, growing & investing in their development.
High Performers subscribe to the philosophy of CANI which means Constant And Never ending Improvement
One of my mentors Jim Rohn had a number of extraordinary quotes many live by today but my personal favourite is ‘Success is something you attract by the person you become’
It’s an amazing philosophy when you truly understand it as some want to attract more success & victory but without becoming more first.
Coming back to my questions…. What are your answers to how are you growing? What are you reading? Who are you becoming?
A harsh truth of high performance which at the same time can be an asset to you if followed through on is that, the more you grow, the more you can give. The more you work you do on you, the more you can do for others.
So if you are in a position of leadership or influence over others, whether in your life, business or career….
it’s practically imperative and vital you continue to feed who you are and fill up your cup.
How are you currently growing right now and what are the opportunities for you?
Where if you put more time, energy & focus could this have a monumental impact in your career, business, personal life or any other specific area you are looking to expand?
One of my earlier mentors often reminded me that growth feeds who we are, growth feeds our mind, being & soul. The day we stop growing is the day we start declining.
Did you know research today shows that if you retire at 55, you have an 89% chance of dying in 10 years; higher than if you retire at 65.
Amazing, why do you think that is?
It’s because we are built to grow and thrive, not just survive. We are built to move, think, embrace challenge, grow from one skill set to another while expanding who we truly are.
If you don’t know what book you are reading (or if you aren’t reading one) or who you are becoming, when is NOW the best time to do something about that?
Because High Performance & creating an extraordinary and fulfilling life isn’t something everyone subscribes to
but as you’re are reading this article, you are probably in the top 5% that wants even more from what you are truly capable of.
Find not a way…but ‘your way’ of how you would like to expand who you are and become more in order to create the breakthroughs, results & vision you desire.
I finish with one more Jim Rohn quote “Pity the man who has a favorite restaurant, but not a favorite author. He’s picked out a favorite place to feed his body, but he doesn’t have a favorite place to feed his mind!”
